THE BEST FUEL PRESSURE FOR MY STROMBERG’S

FUEL PRESSURE:
Stop! Stromberg carburetors require 2.5psi MAXIMUM, measured at the carburetor. This includes 97, 81, 48, 40, LZ and other models. Excess pressure can cause flooding, possible fire or explosion! Modern electric pumps provide higher pressures and are NOT suitable for Stromberg carburetor applications, without a fuel pressure regulator. Always check the manufacturer’s specification.
Original Flathead Ford fuel pumps are 1.5 -2.5 of psi. In instances where an aftermarket fuel pump are used, you’ll need to accurately measure pressure at the carb. Use a temporary gauge just for setup, or one of our COOL options that’s permanent. Check out our Genuine Stromberg Banjo Fittings 9082K-P or the 9083K-G for multi-carbs, designed for your gauge. Have everything chromed or polished? We offer beautiful polished versions in both. Check these 9082K-G-P‘s and 9083K-G-P‘s out!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Always use a high quality, liquid filled gauge designed for FUEL! Only use a gauge not rated for fuel or fire hazard are possible
- Do not use 30 psi gauges. they do not offer accurate psi readings below 5 psi. Only use a gauge rated from 10 psi to 15psi for the most accurate reading.
- Measure fuel pressure as close to the carb as possible. You’re shooting for a fuel pressure from 2 psi to 2.5 psi. Gauges 8″ – 10″ from the carb could see a drop of 0.5 psi.
