Description
Stromberg Progressive Linkage Back-Bar Kit Trim-To-Fit
The Stromberg Trim-To-Fit Progressive Linkage Back-Bar Kit is built for custom 6×2 applications where flexibility, clean installation, and smooth throttle operation matter just as much as traditional hot rod style.
Designed and manufactured exclusively by Stromberg Carburetor, these modular Back-bar systems allow builders to configure a complete progressive linkage setup for a wide range of intake manifolds and carburetor spacing combinations.
Whether you’re running a rare intake, custom manifold dimensions, or a one-off setup, Stromberg’s Trim-To-Fit design gives you the ability to tailor the linkage to your exact application while maintaining synchronized carburetor movement and clean under-hood appearance.
Every kit comes pre-assembled for straightforward installation and eliminates the need for extended throttle shafts. Complete instructions are included for measuring, trimming, fitting, and final assembly.
Modular Progressive Linkage Design
Stromberg engineered these Back-bar systems specifically for modular 6×2 progressive linkage applications. The design allows builders to select and configure linkage components based on their intake dimensions and operating preferences.
The progressive setup can be adjusted to run:
- Two carburetors
- Four carburetors
- All six carburetors
Multiple mounting locations on the long Back-bar levers allow fine tuning of throttle response and leverage for different engine combinations and driving styles.
Trim-To-Fit Flexibility
This linkage system is designed for custom fitting to a wide range of manifold dimensions and carburetor spacing configurations.
The Trim-To-Fit design allows:
- Adjustable Back-bar positioning
- Custom bracket trimming
- Flexible carb spacing setup
- Custom throttle pull alignment
- Precise linkage geometry
Perfect for custom hot rods, vintage race builds, and traditional multi-carb setups that don’t fit off-the-shelf dimensions.
Kit Includes
- Stainless steel Back-bar brackets with rolled ends
- Oilite self-lubricating bushes
- Stainless steel Back-bar shaft
- Stainless steel linkage rods with swivels
- Long linkage levers with clamping screws
- Stainless steel shaft end stops
- Spacer washers for base casting height variations
- Installation hardware and instructions
Built For Real Hot Rod Use
Unlike homemade linkage setups that bind, flex, or wear unevenly, Stromberg’s precision-machined stainless steel components are engineered for long-term durability and smooth synchronized carburetor movement.
The modular Back-bar system also keeps the engine compartment looking clean and traditional while delivering modern drivability and throttle response.

Mechanical Linkage Recommended
Stromberg recommends using a mechanical pedal linkage with all multi-carb systems. Additional linkage arms can be positioned anywhere along the Back-bar shaft for proper throttle pedal alignment and geometry.
Important Notes
- Carburetors and intake manifold are NOT included
- Product photos may show assembled linkage systems for reference only
- Designed for Stromberg 97 carburetor applications
- Some trimming and fitting required depending on intake dimensions
- Will NOT fit Holley or Edelbrock 94 carburetors
- Idle mixture screws on 94-style carburetors interfere with bracket mounting locations designed for Stromberg 97 carburetors
Traditional hot rod styling with modern Stromberg engineering. Built for the custom setups that separate real hot rods from catalog cars.
